NESAWG Conference

November 10, 2014 - November 12, 2014

REGION-SIZING: MAKING IT WORK!

WHAT
What does it take to make our food system strong, resilient and region-sized?
What does real collaboration and cooperation look like?
How can we be more effective?

Explore the channels, mechanisms and structures for making region-sizing work at the Northeast Sustainable Agriculture Working Group’s (NESAWG’s) It Takes A Region Conference, regarded as the conference for everyone doing food system change work.

WHO
NESAWG is a 12-state network of over 500 organizations. Our conference will draw hundreds of farm and food system practitioners and allies, including:

– farmers  – farmworkers  – students  – science writers and journalists  – food justice advocates  – independent researchers  – food hubs  – market innovators  – cooperatives  – Departments of Agriculture  – non-governmental organizations  – land grant universities
– various other food system practitioners

Produce farmers returning this year include: MacArthur Farm, Allandale Farm, Brookwood Community Farm, The Neighborhood Farm and Two Field Farm.  Other farming operations that will be at the market on a weekly or occasional schedule include: Apex Orchards (bringing a variety of fruits later in the season), City Growers (an innovative Boston organization that converts abandoned city lots into thriving green farms), Mycoterra Farm (producers of diverse, gourmet mushrooms), Lilac Hedge Farm (with sustainably raised meats), and  Wolf Meadow Farm (artisan cheese makers).
