Spice up your life at The KITCHEN at The Boston Public Market with a seasonal & local twist on the traditional flavors of Tex-Mex cuisine at our Farm-to-KITCHEN Prelude to Cinco de Mayo celebration! Sherie Grillon, founder of Nola’s Fresh Foods, will lead this cooking class emphasizing the bold flavors of Tex-Mex that have inspired her cooking and business.

Sherie’s recipes will awaken your senses and introduce you to new options for festive meals at home. In addition to learning a new cooking style, you’ll enjoy tastes of three local New England wines that pair perfectly with recipes we’ll be making, courtesy of The Massachusetts Wine Shop.

In this combination demo and hands-on cooking class, Sherie Grillon will demonstrate the tools and techniques of creating the classic latin tostada. She will then lead the class through making two varieties of tostadas (described below) as participants follow along, creating their own culinary masterpieces.

In class, you’ll make two different tostadas using local and seasonal ingredients from the market, plus a dessert using stoneground Taza Chocolate. The majority of ingredients for the day’s cooking and baking will be straight from The Boston Public Market, proving you can buy local, eat local and still achieve international flavors.


  • Egg and Chorizo Tostada
  • Sweet Potato and Mushroom Tostada
  • Dessert: Taza Chocolate & Cherry Hand Pies

Cost is $40 for Trustees member and $50 for Non-Trustees Members. Members must bring their current member card and number. Join The Trustees and save! Members save between 20-40% off all classes in The KITCHEN.

About Sherie Grillon

A native of New Orleans, Sherie Grillon has always been passionate about food. Her earliest memories are of being in the kitchen with her maw-maw (grandmother) watching cooking shows and preparing the family dinner. In high school, Sherie began working in restaurants in the French Quarter; always watching – always learning. As a student at the University of Texas in Austin, Sherie continued to work in restaurants and fell in love with the bold flavors of Tex-Mex cuisine. It was there that she began experimenting with making her own salsa. After years of perfecting the process and much encouragement from family and friends, Sherie launched NOLA’s Salsa in 2011. Today, NOLA’s Salsa is carried in stores and restaurants throughout the Northeast. And the revolution continues to spread.
