Farm Business Planning Course – Winter Session

The winter cycle of New Entry’s classroom-based Farm Business Planning Course begins on January 6.  This 8-week course is for pre-registered students only. Application deadline is December 20, 2014. See the Farm Business Planning Course page for more course details and application. We also offer a fall cycle and an online version of the course.

The course meets 6-9pm on Tuesday evenings at our Lowell office.


Dates for the winter cycle (topics subject to change)

Jan. 6 – Intro to course; marketing and sales

Jan. 13 – Intro to business planning and enterprise selection

[TBD] – Marketing field trip

Jan. 20 – Crop planning and production

(TBD) – Livestock/poultry planning and production (optional)

Jan. 27 – Equipment and supplies sourcing, startup budgets

Feb. 3 – Farm financials: writing the business plan

Feb. 10 – Business plan narratives, real stories from guest growers

Feb. 17 – Business plan workshopping or TBA

Feb. 24 – Business plan presentations
