A Taste of New England Seafood

The KITCHEN at the Boston Public Market is proud to present a FREE four-part series that will bring you on a culinary exploration to celebrate local fishermen and seafood. Red’s Best will be using their freshest seafood offerings to create unique, and flavorful dishes for you to taste while also sampling local wines and beers. Several fishmonger “celebrities” will speak to Red’s Best’s innovative fishing technologies and sustainable practices and will explain how to use less environmentally-threatened species in your cooking at home.
Each dish will be paired with wine and beer samples from the Boston Public Market. This event is 21+.
These are FREE events that run from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Rod & Reel Fishing: Why Practice Traditional Fishing Methods – Sept 22
A closer look at rod and reel fishing, a historic technique used for centuries by small day-boats. Learn to prepare dishes with species landed with a single rod and reel by New England fishermen. This will be a fun and interactive event with several different stations including:
- A tuna tasting, education & display table
- Demonstration of how to break down a whole fish
- Poke tasting (w/ wine samples from local MA wineries)
- Rod & Reel fishing gear education
- Tuna dishes sampling (w/ beer tasting from local breweries)
- Smoked fish tasting (from Boston Smoked Fish Co.)
- Tracking Tuna technology demonstration

Mussel Farming: Aquaculture that Improves Marine Ecosystems – Oct 13
An in depth evening focused on the broad spectrum of farming practices while highlighting mussel aquaculture, a low-tech and efficient means of food production that improves and structures surrounding marine environment. Learn to use local mussels in flavorful, easy-to-make autumn dishes.
Ugly is Awesome: Focus on Underutilized Fish Species – Nov 10
Beauty in the eye of the fishmonger. Get your hands on less familiar, delicious New England species and turn “ugly” fish into amazing, nutritious winter meals. Let’s not call it trash fish. Let’s call it dinner.

Let’s get a better understanding on the devastating impact invasive crustaceans have on marine habitats along with their bursting culinary potential. This event is focused on the variety of ways to cook green crabs.
