25 Tips for Going Local Without Going Crazy

September 19, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Want to bring healthy, local foods into your kitchen and stay on-budget too? Julia Shanks has a passion for and expertise in locavorism, and is eager to share easy ways we can all make changes that connect us to the food and farmers in our own communities. The world is changing as more people support local businesses and return to homemade food to avoid the health, social, and environmental consequences associated with processed foods from big agribusinesses. Join Julia for a discussion and Q&A, complete with recipes (some of which you can sample!), ideas, and a healthy dose of delicious fun.

Julia Shanks – chef and serial entrepreneur – developed a passion for food when she was 12-years-old, cooking her way through the Time-Life Cookbooks. As a chef, she worked in restaurants around the country, developing a taste for fresh, local and seasonal foods.  Julia received her professional training at the California Culinary Academy and is co-author of The Farmers Market Cookbook.
