Your CSA subscribers love the bounty of fresh produce they receive from your farm each week, but even the most avid home cooks can have trouble figuring out what to do with all that zucchini! Help them get more value from your CSA by providing great recipes and storage tips in a convenient reference book they’ll go to each week. Best of all, we keep the personalized cookbooks priced low enough so that both CSA members and farmers’ market customers can easily absorb the costs.

We distribute our custom CSA cookbooks to each new member who joins. We use it as an introduction to cooking simply and deliciously with our vegetables and as a nice little reference book for them. We hear that the Swiss Chard dumplings are a particular favorite with the kids — this cookbook has helped us to get our customers to be happy about the ubiquity of Swiss Chard in our market-style CSA room. People buy these cookbooks as gifts, too. I particularly like the explanations about the best ways to store produce, and the background details on the vegetables.”Hana Newcomb, Owner, Potomac Vegetable Farms

How It Works

Our customized cookbooks are designed to help your customers best enjoy your produce. We create recipes that feature the foods that your farm grows and offer cooking tips to promote the best flavors that you worked so hard to cultivate in the field. We want to help keep your CSA customers loyal and entice new customers to try all that you grow. Your cookbook will be divided into 5 sections:

  • An Introduction to Eating Seasonally
  • An overview of your crop selection
  • A guide to properly storing your fresh produce
  • An introduction to basic cooking techniques used in the cookbook
  • Fifty (or more) recipes that highlight the produce grown on your farm
I am so happy with this book! I’ve started using the information in my own cooking and found so much of what’s in the book really helpful.”Cathy Daughtridge, Active Parenting

The recipes included will be based on your specific crops, as you outline in the crop availability list. You also have an opportunity to add a few words, paragraphs or thoughts to further personalize and customize your cookbook. We recommend that you build in the cost of the cookbook into your CSA subscription price. Your customers will appreciate the fresh recipes that accompany the diversity of your produce. Additionally, you may choose to sell for profit additional copies at your stand at the farmers’ market.

The CSA Cookbooks by Julia were a huge hit with our CSA members!  It was a great addition to our CSA.  Besides loving the recipes, customers really enjoyed the additional information provided.  We’ve always introduced them to new items, told them the benefits of eating locally and seasonally, and how to best store their produce for short term and long term enjoyment, however having it all in writing was so much easier!  We could simply direct them to their cookbook – it saved us time, and customers didn’t have to remember everything we told them at pick-up day.  This is something that really improved and added value to our CSA – a great decision all around!”Karin Milton, Brad’s Produce
